Introduction

weedy sea dragonThank you for your interest in the PADI Advanced Open Water Course. This course provides the perfect opportunity to refine and improve your diving skills while meeting new people and discovering a whole new range of diving activities. The Advanced Course starts off with some self-paced knowledge development befire spending a, all fun, all diving weekend at Bicheno on the east coast. The course gives you an introductory look into five PADI diving specialities.

Underwater Navigation:
This dive will develop your skills at navigating underwater, both with and without a compass. It builds upon the basic skills you learned in your open water course and will give you the confidence to go diving and find your way back again.

Boat Diving:
No matter where you dive or where you intend to, boat diving is always an option, this adventure dive will introduce you to procedures and skills associated with boat diving. This dive also gives you the opportunity to explore the marine reserve at Bicheno, some of the most spectacular diving in Tasmania!

Night Diving:
It does not matter if you dive the same spot a thousand times, at night it will be totally different. Primary and backup lighting, night navigation, communication signals, bioluminescence and a whole new environment are all part of night diving.

Deep Diving:
Sooner or later you will stare over a ledge and wonder, what’s down there? Well, here is you chance, down to 30 metres or 100 feet; where the pressure, temperature, light and even you reflexes change!

Peak Performance Buoyancy:
How much weight to you really need? Is your rig perfectly balanced? This dive will help improve your trim and overall buoyancy skills. We will answer these questions and more with Peak Performance Buoyancy.

Using the PADI Advanced Open Water Crew Pack you will learn about the 5 PADI diving specialities you will get to experience during your course. This will include special procedures and diving techniques and any addition equipment you will need to learn how to use.

Open Water Diving

After the you have gone through the manual, you will travel to Bicheno on the east coast to take part in 5 open water dives. Starting with Underwater Navigation in the morning, followed by a Boat Dive that afternoon, topped off with a Night Dive after a light meal. On Sunday you’re into it again with a Deep Dive and Search & Recovery Dive. The Advanced Open Water Course gives you the opportunity to refine and develop your diving skills and explore the many possibilities of diving.

How Do You Get Started?

The course cost is $440 which includes everything above, you will need your own diving equipment for the course however hire gear is available. You will need to pick up your PADI Crew Pack from Sea Green Dive before the commencement of the course, a deposit of $100 must be made first. Your instructor will tell you what home study must be done before you start.

Course Prerequisites

Prior to commencing your course, you must be a PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent, and be 12 years of age or older, Also when you enroll, you will receive a Advanced Diver Crew Pack,  could you please ensure the knowledge reviews contained in the ‘Advanced Diver Crew Pack’ are completed prior to the first theory lesson.
